Job Summary
Japan Market Growth & Go-To-Market Strategy
- Lead end-to-end business development strategy for Japan market, driving GMV growth, category expansion, and long-term platform competitiveness.
- Define and execute Japan-specific go-to-market strategies aligned with local consumer behavior, regulatory requirements, and competitive landscape (Rakuten, Amazon JP, Yahoo Shopping, Mercari, etc.).
Strategic Merchant, Brand & Manufacturer Partnerships
- Build and own senior-level relationships with Japanese brands, manufacturers, distributors, and large sellers.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing models, onboarding frameworks, partnership terms, and long-term strategic cooperation.
Category Strategy & Portfolio Optimization
- Own category-level strategy including assortment planning, price competitiveness, quality standards, and supplier portfolio optimization.
- Drive category growth through structured SKU strategy, demand forecasting, and lifecycle management tailored to Japanese consumers.
Merchant Growth & Enablement
- Advise merchants on cross-border and local e-commerce strategies, including market entry, localization, logistics, customer experience, and compliance readiness.
- Develop scalable merchant onboarding, education, and acceleration programs for high-potential partners.
Data, Market Intelligence
- Lead deep market analysis on Japan e-commerce trends, customer behavior, regulatory developments, and competitor benchmarks.
- Convert data insights into actionable growth strategies and senior management recommendations.
Cross-Functional & Regional Leadership Collaboration
- Act as the Japan market business owner, collaborating closely with APAC and HQ stakeholders across Operations, Marketing, Product, Supply Chain, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure successful execution.
Innovation & Long-Term Value Creation
- Initiate innovative growth projects including new category launches, Japan-focused pilots
- private-label initiatives, and strategic brand collaborations.
Qualifications
- 6~8+ years of experience in business development, category management, account
- management, or platform operations within e-commerce, retail, orE-commerce digital platforms.
- Strong network and relationships with local Japanese sellers, brands, manufacturers, or distributors is a plus.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to analyze industry trends and drive decision-making through data.
- Proven market exploration and marketing innovation capabilities, capable of guiding overall merchant marketing plans
