Business Unit Head (Pharma)

    Description

    As the head of the business unit, you will be in charge of directing and supervising the pharmaceutical business unit's expansion, profitability, and strategic direction. Directly answering to the Commercial Head, you will be responsible for spearheading the division's attainment of the company's business goals, encouraging creativity, and maintaining operational excellence.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Strategic Guidance:

    • Create and carry out the business unit's strategic plans in accordance with the overarching aims and objectives of the organization.
    • To promote sustainable growth and a competitive edge, identify emerging markets, trends, and possible dangers.
    • Oversee cross-functional teams to provide creative solutions and successfully handle market difficulties.

    Accounting for Finances:

    • Create yearly financial targets, sales projections, and operating budgets for the pharmaceutical business unit.
    • To meet budgetary objectives, track financial performance, examine deviations, and take appropriate corrective action where needed.
    • Lead the business unit's efforts to maximize resource allocation, profitability, and cost-efficiency.

    Market research and management of the product portfolio:

    • To guide product development and business strategy, conduct in-depth market analysis that includes competitive benchmarking and customer insights.
    • Evaluate current product portfolios and pipeline assets, suggesting improvements or alterations to satisfy market needs and optimize revenue potential.
    • Work together with the commercial, regulatory affairs, and research and development teams to prioritize and move promising medication candidates through the development process.

    Excellence in Sales and Commercialization:

    • In charge of marketing, sales, and distribution, lead the pharmaceutical industry's commercialization initiatives.
    • To promote product adoption and market penetration, create and implement strong go-to-market, product positioning, and price strategies.
    • Encourage a culture of sales excellence by giving the sales staff the guidance and assistance they need to hit goals and keep customers happy.

    Assurance of Quality and Compliance with Regulations:

    • Assure adherence to industry norms and regulatory criteria, such as GMP guidelines, FDA regulations, and pharmacovigilance practices, that regulate pharmaceutical products.
    • Throughout the course of the product lifecycle, work together with the regulatory affairs and quality assurance teams to maintain the quality, safety, and compliance of the product.

    Relationship management and stakeholder engagement:

    • Develop trusting connections with important parties, such as distributors, government organizations, business partners, and healthcare professionals.
    • To improve the company's exposure and reputation in the pharmaceutical industry, represent it at trade exhibitions, industry conferences, and strategic meetings.
    • Work together to promote a collaborative work environment and develop cross-functional initiatives with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership.

    Skills & Experience

     

    • A pharmacy bachelor's degree is required; an MBA or other advanced degree is desirable.
    • Demonstrable track record of success in a leadership capacity within the pharmaceutical sector, together with a minimum of ten years of increasing experience in strategic planning, commercial operations, or business management.
    • Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen abilities; able to convert market findings into workable company plans.
    • Strong team-building and leadership skills, with background in managing cross-functional teams and implementing organizational transformation.
    • Proven aptitude at navigating intricate regulatory contexts and guaranteeing adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
    • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities, with the capacity to influence and work well with others at all organizational levels.
    • Results-driven, strategic thinker with the ability to lead innovation and ongoing development in a fast-paced corporate setting.
