Job Summary
The Stationary Cell – Process Technology (Assembly) role leads technology development, industrialization, and continuous improvement for cell assembly processes—stacking/winding, electrolyte filling, formation interface, degassing, aging interface, grading, and packaging—tailored to stationary duty cycles and ESS standards. The role ensures high yield, stable performance, and compliance with ISO/IEC/BIS requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Define process specifications for stacking/winding, tab welding, electrolyte filling, vacuum/soak, degassing, sealing, and packaging
- Establish process windows and control plans for assembly operations aligned to stationary duty cycles and long‑calendar‑life requirements
- Lead industrialization and scale‑up from pilot to mass production for assembly lines; qualify new lines, jigs/fixtures, and tooling
- Collaborate with equipment engineering for upgrades/automation (stackers/winders, filling systems, laser welding, leak test, packaging)
- Monitor KPIs (FPY, yield, CTQs like thickness, alignment, weld strength, leak rate) and drive data‑based improvements
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for assembly defects (mis‑stack, weld spatter, shorts, leaks, contamination)
- Interface with Formation & Aging to align recipes and handling to stationary application profiles; optimize flow and cycle time
- Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC/BIS standards and site EHS regulations across assembly processes
- Prepare and maintain SOPs, PFMEA, control plans, and APQP/PPAP documentation for stationary programs
- Train engineers and operators on process discipline, statistical control, and best practices for ESS cells
Basic Qualifications
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- 12–18 years in lithium‑ion cell manufacturing with focus on assembly processes
- Minimum 5 years in process technology/industrialization for stationary/ESS cell assembly lines
- Hands‑on experience with APQP/PPAP and ISO/IEC/BIS compliance for energy‑storage cells
- Stacking/winding, tab welding, electrolyte filling, vacuum/degassing, sealing, and leak‑testing expertise
- SPC/DOE, PFMEA, RCA/CAPA; MES/LIMS traceability and data analytics
- Cross‑functional collaboration with Design, Quality, Formation & Aging, Operations, and O&M
- Strong documentation, problem‑solving, and training skills
- Familiarity with ESS safety and reliability requirements, including long‑term storage/operation profiles
Role KPI
- First‑pass yield and overall process yield for assembly operations
- CTQ capability (Cpk) for alignment, thickness, weld strength, and leak rate within control limits
- Reduction in assembly‑related defect rates and rework/scrap
- Ramp‑up to nameplate throughput and cycle‑time reduction without quality drift
- APQP/PPAP milestones achieved on schedule for stationary programs
- Audit compliance for ISO/IEC/BIS and site EHS requirements
Salary & Benefits
- Salary range: Customized for each individual
- Company benefits: healthcare, holiday, other perks, etc.
- Career development benefits
