Job Purpose
The Own Brand Director is responsible for building and driving the strategic development of Own Brand (OB) products, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall commercial growth objectives and consumer needs. This role oversees the full OB lifecycle—from strategic planning, product marketing, sourcing, and financial governance, through to product launch and go-to-market execution. The Director is also accountable for building and nurturing a high-performing team, ensuring smooth operations, and achieving or exceeding revenue and profit targets.
Key Responsibilities
A. Professional Field
1. Strategic Planning
- Establish strategic direction and development plan for Own Brand, including revenue and profit targets.
- Define OB KPIs derived from the Commercial Sector’s objectives and ensure effective governance.
- Deliver a development strategy aligned with company growth goals and consumer needs.
2. Product Marketing
- Lead OB product marketing plans in line with business strategy and goals.
- Conduct market and analytical research to guide decisions, drive innovation, and plan launches/relaunches.
- Oversee full marketing mix (4Ps), implement OB marketing activities, and expand market share and consumer reach.
- Ensure effective execution of product marketing plans to achieve business targets.
3. Sourcing Development & Management
- Direct and manage sourcing activities: identifying, developing, and managing supply sources.
- Ensure supplier/vendor selection is fair, transparent, and based on sufficient capacity and capability.
- Negotiate commercial contracts to secure competitive pricing and profitability on a win-win basis.
4. Finance Governance
- Track OB results and analyze business performance to ensure achievement of revenue, profit, and other financial targets.
- Manage P&L for OB business.
- Conduct daily business analysis and identify levers to achieve financial objectives.
- Ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
B. General Management Field
1. HR Management
- Design the department’s organizational structure, including functions, responsibilities, and job descriptions.
- Develop personnel demand plans and manage department performance.
- Build, train, and nurture a succession pipeline of talent.
- Create an engaged, efficient, and high-performing team.
2. Finance Management
- Propose and manage annual operating budget, ensuring efficiency and cost optimization.
- Manage departmental assets in compliance with company regulations.
- Ensure no waste, loss, or damage due to poor asset management.
3. Risk Management
- Identify and assess operational and external risks.
- Propose and implement preventive and corrective measures.
- Minimize potential damages through timely detection and intervention.
4. Process & Regulations
- Develop and maintain processes, policies, and regulations relevant to the OB function.
- Monitor and evaluate implementation, recommending improvements where necessary.
- Ensure processes are up-to-date, sufficient, and effective in meeting operational needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in product marketing, sourcing, or commercial management, preferably within FMCG or retail.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to build and develop teams.
- Solid experience in P&L management and financial analysis.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with a consumer-centric mindset.
