Job Purpose
The Deputy CEO supports the Store Director in developing and executing the business strategy for the retail chain. This role is responsible for setting action plans, organizing, and controlling the day-to-day operations of supermarkets and stores (across different business models) to ensure effective strategy implementation and the achievement of financial targets (revenue, profit, etc.).
The Chain Director also plays a key role in building and developing a strong succession pipeline, nurturing talents, and ensuring smooth and effective organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities
A. Professional Responsibilities
1. Business Planning & Governance
- Contribute to the development of operational and expansion strategies.
- Establish action plans and KPI systems, oversee implementation, and ensure effective monitoring.
- Deliver SMART KPIs and execution plans aligned with business objectives.
2. Network Development
- Participate in site-mapping and expansion planning.
- Serve as a member of the evaluation council for store location effectiveness, both pre- and post-leasing.
- Coordinate with relevant departments in the handover and setup of new stores, including facilities, equipment, merchandise, staffing, and opening activities.
- Ensure store opening schedules and performance targets are met.
3. Operations Management
- Conduct market research and coordinate with related departments to update on competitors, customer needs, and market trends.
- Propose sales programs, commercial policies, and improvements to business models.
- Manage customer service and commercial activities, ensuring consistency with company standards.
- Ensure product availability, quality, and pricing meet consumer expectations.
- Evaluate sales programs, product assortment, pricing, and merchandising to optimize performance.
- Manage and control procurement of consumables and store assets within approved budgets.
- Ensure compliance in asset management, prevent waste, loss, or damage.
4. Financial Management
- Oversee and manage the P&L of the retail chain.
- Analyze daily business results (sales, profit, traffic, basket size, penetration, inventory, shrinkage, etc.) and propose action plans for optimization.
- Develop and control the department’s operating budget.
B. General Management Responsibilities
1. Human Resources Management
- Design the department’s organizational structure, job descriptions, and manpower planning.
- Manage and evaluate individual and departmental performance (including recommendations on rewards, discipline, promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments).
- Develop, train, and retain talent within the team.
- Build an engaged, high-performing workforce aligned with business growth objectives.
2. Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and external risks.
- Propose measures for prevention and timely handling of risks to minimize damages.
3. Process & Policy Development
- Develop and update processes, regulations, and policies related to retail operations.
- Oversee implementation, evaluate efficiency, and propose improvements when needed.
4. Other Duties
- Perform other tasks as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or related fields.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in a similar leadership role, or over 5 years as an Operations Director in large retail chains.
Knowledge & Expertise:
- Strong expertise in retail operations management (hypermarkets, supermarkets, minimarts, convenience stores, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of store concepts, space management, and planograms.
- Experience in network expansion, setup, and retail operations techniques.
- Strong business acumen and ability to identify opportunities.
- Comprehensive management skills in planning, HR, finance, and risk.
