Director of IT Service Governance

    Overview

    This role oversees the operational delivery of IT services across infrastructure, application, and digital domains. The individual is responsible for ensuring the IT Service Center operates efficiently, manages change control processes, optimizes budgets, and drives continuous improvement in service performance and delivery quality.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Evaluate and anticipate business demands across IT infrastructure, applications, and digital enhancements; design corresponding delivery and improvement roadmaps.

    • Oversee the day-to-day IT support services, ensuring responsiveness, reliability, and smooth handling of change requests.

    • Develop KPIs to assess IT service quality and team productivity, and proactively address performance gaps.

    • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial governance of IT operations; ensure expenditure aligns with strategic goals and financial approvals.

    • Serve as a financial steward, accountable to the CIO and executive leadership for managing multi-million-dollar IT budgets efficiently.

    • Lead efforts to optimize vendor costs, enforce delivery standards, and mitigate risks associated with third-party engagements.

    • Make strategic staffing decisions to build high-performing teams aligned with the organization’s growth plans.

    • Set up and lead the IT Vendor Management function, ensuring procurement practices are efficient and compliant with performance standards.

    • Provide strategic guidance to the CIO on technical platforms, innovation opportunities, and business-aligned IT strategies.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field; postgraduate qualifications preferred.

    • Over 12 years in high-demand IT environments, with at least 6 years in the banking/financial sector.

    • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale IT service operations and manage complex budgets (>$20M).

    • Deep understanding of banking technology across retail, wealth, and wholesale segments.

    • A hands-on leader with a strong grasp of both business needs and technical delivery.

    • Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.

    • Capable of driving cross-functional collaboration and maintaining high service standards

      in fast-paced environments.
