Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze tender documents, engineering drawings, and project specifications to perform detailed and accurate quantity take-offs.
- Develop competitive cost estimates by creating BOM rates from first principles and applying current industry rates.
- Negotiate favorable rates with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare and input costing data into tender proposal formats.
- Collaborate with other discipline estimators and engineers to ensure comprehensive and accurate bid submissions.
- The Senior position will mentor junior members of the estimating team.
Job Requirements:
- Qualification: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in Electrical or E&I cost estimating within the construction industry. Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for the Senior role.
- Proven experience in supporting medium to large-scale projects is required.
- Experience in estimating for industrial projects is desirable.
- Must have experience in estimating for electrical works including power systems (HV, MV, LV), distribution, and containment. Experience with ELV systems (e.g., Fire Alarm, CCTV, IT) is a significant advantage.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical skills in cost estimation and tendering.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and detail-oriented skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Candy Estimating Software, or AutoCAD/Navisworks is desirable.
