Engineering Manager

    Job Description

    • Lead a software development team and contribute directly to the development of cutting-edge software products.
    • Participate hands-on in coding, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
    • Mentor and coach team members through 1-on-1s, performance feedback, and technical guidance.
    • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design and implement scalable solutions aligned with business objectives.
    • Drive recruitment and employer branding activities within the tech community.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
    • Participate in organizational design and help scale the product and business effectively.
    • Address and proactively solve organizational issues to maximize the value of the engineering team.

     Examples of expected work styles:

    • Option 1: Lead a team using technical expertise to guide decisions without necessarily being hands-on.
    • Option 2: Take a more hands-on approach, contributing actively to development while managing the team and ensuring delivery quality.

     Requirements Must-Have:

    • Proven experience as a Development Team Manager or Engineering Manager with a strong leadership track record.
    • Hands-on software development experience, including complex codebase contribution and review.
    • Proficiency in architecture design, requirements analysis, and infrastructure planning.
    • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and development processes.
    • Strong ability to balance technical depth with managerial duties.
    • Fluent business communication in English.

     Nice-to-Have:

    • Experience managing multinational or fast-growing organizations.
    • Prior experience managing multiple engineering teams and delivering results.
    • Business-level Japanese proficiency.
