Engineering Manager

    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our engineering department in a high-volume precision parts manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring that engineering processes, equipment, and teams deliver optimized performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The Engineering Manager will oversee a team of skilled engineers and technicians, collaborating across departments to drive innovation, process improvement, and operational excellence within a 600-person manufacturing organization.


    1. Job description
    Leadership and Team Management

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
    • Develop and execute training programs to enhance technical skills and professional development.
    • Manage engineering team performance through clear KPIs, regular feedback, and performance evaluations.

    Strategic Planning and Execution

    • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with business objectives.
    • Drive initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity in manufacturing processes.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company remains competitive.

    Process and Equipment Optimization

    • Oversee the design, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment to meet precision, quality, and safety standards.
    • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues.
    • Ensure robust preventative maintenance programs are in place and effective.

    Project Management

    • Manage new product introductions, process improvements, and equipment upgrades within budget and on schedule.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Production, and Supply Chain, to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Monitor project progress and provide updates to senior management.

    Compliance and Quality Assurance

    • Ensure all engineering processes comply with industry standards, regulations, and certifications (e.g., ISO9001, ISO14001, IATF 16949).
    • Support quality assurance initiatives by collaborating with QA teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.

    Budget and Resource Management

    • Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget, including labour, materials, and capital expenditures.
    • Evaluate and approve investments in new technologies, tools, and equipment. Follow-up on permanent corrective action plans to resolve any outstanding issues related to quality, production, equipment, tooling, customers, and production controls 

    2. Job Requirements 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
    • Age: Above 40 years old.
    • Minimum 15 years of engineering experience, with at least 10 years in a managerial role within precision parts manufacturing. 
    • Strong knowledge of precision machining, CNC programming, and process automation.
    • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, process, change and improve design and equipment
    • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and ERP systems.
    • Familiarity with industry standards and certifications (ISO9001, ISO14001, IATF 16949, etc.).
    • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
    • Strategic thinking with the ability to execute tactical plans effectively.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Communicate well in English
