As part of our new campaign spotlighting EV Search consultants, we are proud to launch a special interview series inspired by the National Motto of Vietnam “Independence - Freedom - Happiness”. This initiative gives our consultants the space to share their career journeys, personal insights, and reflections on what independence, freedom and happiness means to them.
At EV Search, we honor not only the independence of our nation but also the spirit of independence within each individual - the drive to grow, to lead, and to create meaningful impact.
Today, we sat down with two of our colleagues: Ms. Yen Nguyen, Senior Recruitment Consultant from I&M Team and Ms. My Do, Recruitment Consultant from ICT Team to hear their personal reflections on independence. From professional growth to personal responsibility, their insights show how independence shapes not only their careers but also their outlook on life.
Let’s start with a big question. What does independence mean to you?
Ms. Yen Nguyen: For me, independence is not just freedom from control. It’s about owning my work, managing it well, and creating space for growth and creativity. It doesn’t mean working alone or doing things only my way - it’s really about being proactive and responsible.
Ms. My Do: I like that perspective. For me, independence is about choices. Having the ability to make my own decisions and then standing by them with confidence. And I agree with Yen, it’s not just freedom. It’s also about equipping yourself with the knowledge, skills, and support system to create a meaningful life.
That’s really powerful. But with so many responsibilities, how do you avoid feeling overwhelmed ?
Ms. Yen Nguyen: Without structure, independence can feel chaotic. That’s why I always stick to my plan and timeline. If I don’t, I risk letting deadlines control me instead of me controlling them.
Ms. My Do: I can relate to that. In fact, my journey at EV Search has helped me a lot in this. EV Search has played a crucial role in shaping my journey, offering both direction and trust. Thanks to that support, I’ve been able to feel empowered and financially independent
It sounds like independence is closely tied to growth. How has this perspective shaped your careers so far?
Yen: For me, it’s given me confidence to take initiative and be creative. Independence is a constant reminder that freedom always comes with responsibility.
My: Exactly! And it’s also connected to something bigger.
Speaking of that bigger picture, with National Day approaching, how do you see personal independence connecting with national independence?
My: As Vietnam's National Day approaches, I feel an even deeper appreciation for the connection between personal independence and national independence. Just as our forefathers secured freedom through willpower and determination, today’s young generation is striving to assert their capabilities, pursue autonomy, and contribute to collective progress. For me, every step in my career carries a sense of responsibility, not only to my organization, but also to the community and to my country.
Yen: Absolutely. Independence isn’t just for ourselves. It’s something we use to grow, and hopefully, to make a meaningful impact on the people and communities around us.
