Overview
We are seeking a skilled Fundamental Support Engineer specializing in ODT (Ongoing Design Verification Testing) to maintain and optimize our testing infrastructure in Vietnam. The successful candidate will ensure daily testing operations run smoothly, collaborate with factory engineering teams, and drive quality improvements through effective failure analysis and reporting.
About ODT
Ongoing Design Verification Testing (ODT) aims to identify potential issues missed during hardware development by establishing a comprehensive factory testing system. This process helps prevent customer dissatisfaction with retail products by catching problems early in the manufacturing cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Testing Infrastructure Management
- Maintain DVEF/ODT/OBA testing infrastructure to support daily operations in the partner factory
- Oversee CCTV infrastructure, barcode scanners, and APC (Assistance PC) systems
- Ensure proper synchronization between factory servers and Redmond ODT servers (FAW, local databases)
- Monitor and troubleshoot ODT line facilities including servers, CCTV, and internet connectivity
Testing Operations
- Execute ODT test flows to validate device functionality (Power ON, login, app testing, peripheral checks)
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for ODT testing tools (display resolution checks, shutdown event monitoring, log uploads)
- Manage LKG (Latest Known Good) OS versions for testing purposes
- Conduct training and re-training for ODT Technicians as needed
Quality Assurance & Reporting
- Perform thorough failure analysis on PC product issues
- Document and report bugs using FAW (Failure Analysis Web) system
- Ensure all bug reports contain comprehensive information (scenarios, screenshots, videos, logs, troubleshooting steps)
- Collaborate with SW/HW teams to clarify and enhance bug reports
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in daily meetings with Vietnam ODT teams
- Attend weekly cross-regional meetings (US/China/Vietnam/Thailand) to update test status and reports
- Conduct daily triage sessions with local Technician Team to review and improve bug reports
- Interface with factory engineering teams to manage ODT/DVEF testing processes
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in PC industry or related field
- Experience with software testing methodologies and tools
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for test automation
- Understanding of network fundamentals
- Familiarity with testing tools (APC, CCTV systems, barcode scanners)
- Experience with bug tracking/reporting systems
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English OR Mandarin (both written and verbal)

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

- Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage concurrent priorities
- Adaptability to changing situations and requirements
Additional Requirements
- Availability for onboarding in May 2024
- Willingness to travel to Suzhou, China for 2-month training period
