Overview
The Head of Operations & Maintenance will oversee the strategic direction and execution of all operational and maintenance activities at a large-scale solar glass manufacturing facility. This leadership position is responsible for optimizing production efficiency, maintaining high standards of equipment reliability, and fostering continuous improvement across teams and systems. The role also includes contributing to the development of engineering and digital platforms in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
1. Strategic Operational Oversight

Develop and implement strategies to improve production workflows, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Ensure daily operations align with company objectives and comply with safety and quality standards.
2. Maintenance Leadership

Guide the maintenance function to execute robust preventive and corrective maintenance plans.

Ensure machinery and infrastructure operate reliably to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
3. Continuous Improvement & Optimization

Identify performance gaps and introduce process enhancements using data-driven insights.

Promote operational excellence by integrating global best practices in manufacturing operations.
4. Team Leadership

Build and manage a multidisciplinary operations and maintenance team.

Cultivate a workplace culture centered on safety, collaboration, and skill development.
5. Budgeting & Cost Control

Oversee the allocation and monitoring of O&M budgets.

Implement financial controls to manage operational expenses effectively.
6. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Lead initiatives for risk reduction and employee safety training.
7. Cross-Department Collaboration

Work closely with engineering, supply chain, and production teams to align initiatives with business goals.

Maintain strong relationships with equipment suppliers and service partners to ensure availability and reliability.
8. Policy Alignment & Objective Setting

Set department goals aligned with the organization’s broader vision and integrated management systems.

Ensure compliance with company-wide safety and operational procedures.
Key Skills & Competencies

Proven leadership in operations and maintenance functions within high-volume manufacturing environments (solar glass preferred).

Strong engineering and project management expertise across multiple initiatives.

Exceptional interpersonal skills for engaging internal teams and external partners.

Professional certifications such as PMP, CMRP, or Lean Six Sigma are desirable.
Experience & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering discipline.

Experience:
-
At least 15 years of experience in operations and maintenance roles, with significant achievements.

Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in solar PV glass manufacturing, including both production and processing.

Practical exposure to technologies such as thin glass tempering (<2mm), waste heat recovery systems, gas purification systems, and large-format glass (G12+).

Familiarity with benchmarking and implementation of industry-standard O&M practices.

Strong leadership, organizational, and technical communication skills.
