Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze tender documents and engineering drawings to understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform detailed and accurate quantity take-offs.
- Develop cost estimates using first-principles and current industry rates.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare and compile cost data for tender submissions.
- Collaborate with other estimators and engineering teams to ensure accuracy.
- For the Senior role, mentor junior estimators.
- Maintain the company's pricing databases.
Job Requirements:
- Qualification: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of Mechanical Cost Estimating experience in the construction industry. Candidates with more experience will be considered for the Senior position.
- Experience with medium to large-scale projects is required.
- Experience in estimating for industrial projects is desirable.
- Must have experience estimating mechanical works such as Building Services (ACMV, Fire Protection, Plumbing), Utilities (CDA, Steam, Vacuum), steelworks, and equipment installation.
- Experience in Advanced Technology Facilities or Bio Life Science Industries is a significant advantage.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical skills in cost estimation and tendering.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and detail-oriented skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Candy Estimating Software, or AutoCAD/Navisworks is desirable.
