Reports to: Business Head of Polysilicon Business
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assisted in reviewing vendor deliverables for critical equipment and sections of the polysilicon plant during design reviews.
- Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements, foresee potential constraints and technology risks, and support the implementation of alternative solutions.
- Offer guidance and assistance to Technology and Operations teams during testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, stabilization, and performance guarantee test runs.
- Ensure proper equipment assembly and installation through on-site inspections during fabrication if required. Review vendor operating manuals and integrate them into our operational manuals.
- Verify piping connections against P&IDs, provide construction crews with correction lists, and assist in preparing checklists and conducting leak checks.
- Conduct hardware and functional checkouts of instruments, validate control scheme functions, and offer guidance or support for control tuning during startup as needed.
- Develop plans for equipment preparation for chemical introductions, inert gas usage, lubrication, etc.
- Collaborate with Site, Project, Business, and Technology teams to review and implement schemes and initiatives aimed at reducing conversion costs, increasing capacity, conserving energy, modifying processes, and substituting catalysts and chemicals to support the Polysilicon Roadmap & Developmental efforts.
- Guide the development of extensive simulation and rigorous steady-state and dynamic models for key process sections, identifying scenarios for sensitivity analysis and contributing to Operator Training System (OTS) development.
- Develop improvement plans for enhancing the reliability and availability of key equipment such as Fluidized Bed Reactors & Cyclones, Material and Slurry Handling equipment, CVD reactor, and Distillation & Separation equipment.
- Perform external and internal benchmarking of process performance related to energy use and optimization in Silicon Manufacturing Plants, identifying opportunities for cost and quality optimization through GAP analysis.
- Assist in creating a comprehensive plant start-up plan to ensure a smooth and orderly start-up process.
- Develop training templates to enhance safety and operational competency for the Polysilicon Manufacturing Technology & Operational Team.
- Define and specify requirements for the chlorination reactor if needed for NEXWAFE.
- Provide training and guidance to Reliance teams as required for the tasks mentioned above.
Basic Qualifications
- Expertise in critical equipment and polysilicon plant sections
- Ability to review and evaluate vendor deliverables
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices
- Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs
- Ability to verify correct piping connections and installation
- Experience in preparing checklists and conducting leak checks

- Expertise in Fluidized Bed Reactors and Cyclones
- Knowledge of Material and Slurry Handling equipment
- Experience with CVD reactors
- Flexibility to provide training and support on an as-needed basis
- Knowledge of chlorination processes in polysilicon production
