The client, who is a global renewable energy and energy storage developer & independent power producer, seeks a Project Development Director to lead our Vietnam project development activities.
NOTE: Native or near-native Vietnamese language proficiency is required, so non-Vietnamese speakers need not apply for this role.
Your position is crucial to the company's operations in Vietnam and directly answers the vice president of development for Asia.
Managing all aspects of a project's development from inception to completion includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- To obtain and evaluate market data, work with MOIT, ERAV, provincial PCs, DOITs, national & local EVN, and other governmental and utility organizations.
- Create and implement a plan to conceive of and execute projects that are profitable for the business.
- Working with management, internal personnel, and outside experts, locate, assess, and obtain land for projects including renewable energy and energy storage.
- Work with electric utilities to identify appropriate grid connection places, and take care of the associated paperwork and correspondence.
- Handle all facets of project permitting, including interactions with regional, state, and local government organizations, business associations, and neighborhood stakeholders.
- Work together with permitting, technical, legal, and financial resources to support the growth of the project, and share knowledge as needed.
- Lead a small team of experts in project development and land sourcing.
- Create, negotiate, and carry out off-take agreements with significant electricity buyers.
Additional organizational and development tasks may be required by the company.
Compile, maintain, and update reports as directed by management.
Experience:
- Strong track record of cooperating with provincial and local governments • Strong background working with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong background working with multi-national companies
- 10+ years of experience in the renewable energy, energy storage, electric power, and/or real estate industries, with 5+ years working in rural areas
Qualifications:
- Strong familiarity with provincial and local permitting requirements
- A strong level of professionalism with attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Superior time management and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Vietnamese. Professional working proficiency in English.
- Deep knowledge of the Vietnamese renewable energy market.
- Ability to work independently and creatively to solve problems.
Educational Background: BA/BS is a must
