Regional Finance Controller

    Job summary: Regional Finance Controller delivers expert financial guidance to the local organization, ensuring that statutory reporting and tax obligations align with local GAAP, tax legislation, and the company's accounting standards. This position entails working closely with Global Finance Services (GFS) to ensure all financial activities adhere to local regulations. The Financial Controller is also responsible for executing global initiatives at the local level, ensuring that systems and processes run smoothly. The role also encompasses managing local risks, ensuring the FCF framework is accurate and up-to-date at the market level, and implementing robust controls to address potential risks. Furthermore, the Regional Finance Controller is responsible for optimizing working capital and actively supervising DSO and DPO.

    Accountabilities:

    Tax:

    • Oversee interactions with Global Finance Services (GFS), supplying essential local information for Direct Tax, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing Documentation, and quarterly tax reports to ensure timely filing.
    • Assist GFS in forming local transfer pricing recommendations for Global Tax.
    • Ensure local tax practices align with both local laws and global tax policies, and keep the CCFO updated on significant financial risks, particularly regarding tax audits.
    • Act as the primary liaison for country tax authorities during audits.

    Statutory and Management Reporting:

    • Ensure adherence to company’s Accounting Policies and standards for accurate and timely submission of Management Accounts data across various group systems.
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with GFS to ensure their expertise and communication meet requirements, providing support as needed.
    • Supervise GFS in the accurate and timely completion and filing of local statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with legal standards.

    Internal Control Environment:

    • Oversee the company’s risk management and FCF assessment process for the local market, ensuring risks are properly identified and controls are in place and operational.
    • Submit bi-annual FCF reports to the Cluster CFO or Area Finance Director.
    • Actively engage in local compliance committee meetings to ensure a robust control environment.
    • Regularly update local policies and procedures, including market-specific SOPs.
    • Comply with the company’s Code of Conduct & Core Values, as well as all relevant local and global policies, to uphold corporate reputation.
    • Manage internal and external audits professionally to ensure successful outcomes.

    Cash and Treasury:

    • Collaborate with GFS to ensure timely supplier payments and manage relationships with local banks.
    • Steward the company’s cash in line with policies and procedures.
    • Ensure the local company is properly funded and adheres to all internal and external policies and regulations concerning cash payments, travel and expenses, corporate cards, etc.

    Information Systems:

    • Serve as a functional analyst for systems impacting activities within this role, ensuring they meet local statutory accounting and tax requirements.

    Local and Global Projects:

    • Support the implementation of Finance Transformation projects locally, in line with business needs.
    • Participate in and support projects that affect accounting and tax functions.
    • Make necessary decisions at the local level.

    Business Partnering:

    • Identify and communicate key insights on business performance to enhance decision-making.
    • Provide statutory and tax advice to support changes in business models and new partnership arrangements.

     

    Qualifications:

    • A qualified finance professional with accounting certification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
    • Over 10 years of experience, including a minimum of 5 years in external audit and the remaining years in a managerial role within commercial organizations. Experience with BIG4 firms is preferred.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory and statutory requirements, governance principles, and familiarity with IFRS and SOX.
    • Proficiency in analyzing and resolving issues related to controllership.
    • Proven track record of continuous personal development and adaptability throughout a leadership career.
    • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or other regulated sectors is highly desirable.
