Key Responsibilities
Market Expansion & Go-to-Market Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive growth strategies for Temu's South Korea business, driving revenue growth, merchant acquisition, category development, and long-term market leadership.
- Design and implement localized go-to-market plans that reflect Korean consumer preferences, market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and regulatory requirements.
Strategic Partnerships & Seller Ecosystem Development
- Establish and manage executive-level relationships with Korean brands, manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and key retail partners.
- Lead high-value commercial negotiations involving partnership structures, pricing models, onboarding processes, compliance standards, and long-term collaboration agreements.
Category Growth & Portfolio Management
- Define and execute category strategies covering assortment optimization, pricing competitiveness, supplier management, quality control, and new category expansion.
- Drive category performance through demand planning, SKU optimization, inventory management, and product lifecycle strategies tailored to local market needs.
Merchant Success & Enablement
- Provide strategic guidance to sellers on domestic and cross-border e-commerce opportunities, including localization, fulfillment, logistics, compliance, and customer experience best practices.
- Design scalable programs to onboard, educate, and accelerate the growth of merchants and brands on the platform.
Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning
- Conduct in-depth analysis of South Korea's e-commerce industry, consumer behavior, emerging trends, competitive activities, and policy developments.
- Translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations that support business growth and executive decision-making.
Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary business owner for the South Korea market, partnering closely with regional and global teams across Operations, Marketing, Product, Supply Chain, Legal, Compliance, and Public Policy.
- Align local market priorities with broader organizational objectives to ensure successful execution and sustainable growth.
Innovation & Strategic Initiatives
- Identify and lead new growth opportunities, including category launches, seller acquisition programs, strategic partnerships, and private-label initiatives.
- Drive scalable and compliant business expansion while contributing to broader regional growth objectives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in business development, marketplace operations, account management, category management, brand management, or related commercial functions.
- Established network within South Korea's seller, merchant, brand, distributor, and retail ecosystems is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage market insights and data to drive strategic business decisions.
- Deep understanding of South Korea's e-commerce, retail, and consumer market environment.
- Proven commercial negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with a strong ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Experience working with regional and global cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment is an advantage.
- Professional fluency in both Korean and English is required.
