    We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior ESG Consultant to work with our team based in Singapore. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a full-time professional to join our dynamic and growing organization in Singapore. This role involves working on sustainable finance projects across numerous Asian countries, including but not limited to, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, and Mongolia. 

    Job tasks and responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be working daily with Financial Institutions focused on making an impact alongside their returns in emerging markets:

    • Leading and managing environmental and social (E&S) Due Diligence and project managing independent monitoring in emerging markets;
    • Development and implementation of E&S Management Systems, delivery of E&S Training and Capacity Building and other E&S Strategy advisory work for financial institutions (e.g. TCFD, 2x Challenge, etc.);
    • Setting KPIs and verifying performance against targets established in sustainability-linked loans;
    • Desktop work and site visits to companies operating in a wide variety of sectors e.g. renewable energy, agribusiness, manufacturing, infrastructure, finance, etc.;
    • Working with a wide variety of financial institutions;
    • Working with other subject matter experts to develop tools, and distill insights and knowledge into guidance and strategies for clients;
    • Project leadership and management, including being responsible for day-to-day aspects of project deliverables, resourcing, site visit planning, financial management, and client liaison;
    • Business development and sales to new and existing clients;
    • Preparing and delivering proposals and marketing materials;
    • Building and managing working relationships with clients and other stakeholders in the industry;
    • Developing and enhancing our technical service offerings to clients; and
    • Actively recruiting, mentoring, and coaching team members to their highest potential.


    Skills and experience
    The ideal candidate must have experience working in the ESG/Sustainable Finance space. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator and project manager with a strong work ethic and a proactive, can-do attitude as the role is dynamic and will require the management of multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously:

    • An academic background in Environmental Science or Social Sciences is preferred or relevant consulting experience with 6+ years in the industry;
    • Experience delivering medium and large due diligence assessments in emerging markets across a wide range of sectors with familiarity with standards such as IFC Performance Standards, ADB Safeguards, AIIB ESF, Equator Principles, etc. is required;
    • An ability to analyze and interpret technical information to understand and articulate potential ESG risks and opportunities and commercial implications for a business and to be able to propose pragmatic solutions to mitigate/enhance these;
    • An entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to spot and contribute to turning larger market trends into opportunities for clients and IBIS;
    • A passion for sustainability, and driving value through improved environmental and social performance and impact;
    • Proficiency in English (verbal and written) is essential and the ability to speak other Asian languages is advantageous;
    • Experience and skills to supervise project team(s), coach and mentor junior staff;
    • Excellent attention to detail and a focus on high-quality outputs; 
    • Excellent people skills, being able to engage and foster relationships across geographies and cultures; 
    • Existing right to reside in Singapore.
