JOB OVERVIEW
A software licensing analyst develops processes to improve software licensing. This includes analysis of purchased data, reviewing discovery data, processing and maintaining software, conducting research to assist with purchases and contracting requirements, as well as providing functional support to end users. You will also verify usage, recommend purchases based on needs, and provide project delivery after meeting the requirements. You will be in charge of optimizing software, identifying and resolving issues, analyzing usage, and providing advice management, as well as prepare all necessary process and reporting documentation.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Determine SW licensing requirements and examine vendor licensing terms
- Document licensing data (in-/outflows), such as historical license data and new purchases.
- Determine commercial SW license inventory
- Organize technical data collection, collect and document usage data
- Ensure inventory data quality
- Produce transparent consumption reporting for each OE/branch, Service Owner, and SW provider.
- Compile license balances; map commercial and technical inventories based on license metrics
- Analyze license balance, determine current licensing situation, identify licensing deviations (under-/over-licensing)
- Manage software compliance reporting
- Encourage the correction of licensing violations.
- Search the pool for any unused SW licenses.
- Assist in the evolvement of SAM control and governance
- Assist with risk or SW compliance assessments
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a relevant IT field is preferred (freshers are welcome).
- Must be familiar with vendor licensing rules such as Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, and so on.
- Know how to set up software asset management function, processes, and tools
- Working knowledge of license management tools such as Service Now is required.
- Understanding of licensing and software delivery models
- 5+ years of experience in software license management
- Prior experience in implementing software asset management processes, tools, and governance
- Working knowledge of the ServiceNow asset management module
- Knowledge of configuration management, asset life-cycle management, process improvement, and compliance
- Working knowledge of the fundamental concepts and procedures used in a purchasing and asset management environment
- Working knowledge of software licensing and contract language
- Working knowledge of reconciling software licensing and software maintenance terms and conditions between procured rights and quantities with software asset deployment
- Working knowledge of the procurement life cycle and best practices
- Strong problem-solving abilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong data analysis and manipulation skills, including proficiency in MS Excel
- Working knowledge of current IT technologies as well as a thorough understanding of industry practices
- Self-motivated, hardworking, and able to work independently
- Can manage time and workload effectively, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail
- Desirable Skills: Proven experience and ability to calculate vendor licensing models, familiarity with 'Tier 1' vendor license models
- Familiar with a Software Asset Management tool Service Now
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in English
