Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the supplier quality strategy to support business objectives and operational excellence.
- Define supplier quality KPIs and performance metrics while driving continuous improvement across the SQE function.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Supplier Quality Engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability and quality excellence.
- Serve as the primary management representative for all supplier quality matters.
Supplier Quality Management
- Manage the end-to-end supplier quality lifecycle, including supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, performance evaluation, and development.
- Ensure suppliers consistently comply with applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements, including ISO, ASME, EN, or equivalent.
- Lead supplier qualification activities to expand and strengthen the company's global supplier network.
Supplier Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor supplier performance using key quality metrics such as NCR, OTIF, and COPQ.
- Drive supplier development initiatives and continuous improvement programs to enhance quality and operational performance.
- Lead investigations into critical supplier quality issues, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Partner with suppliers to achieve sustainable quality improvements and long-term performance.
Audit & Compliance
- Develop and execute supplier audit programs, including both on-site and remote assessments.
- Ensure supplier compliance with internal quality systems, customer requirements, and international standards.
- Review and approve supplier audit findings conducted by internal SQE teams and third-party inspection partners.
- Escalate high-risk supplier quality concerns and recommend mitigation strategies to senior leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support sourcing strategies and supplier development.
- Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to ensure supplier readiness for production.
- Provide supplier quality and risk assessments to support sourcing decisions and business growth.
Process Excellence
- Establish and standardize supplier quality procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives by leveraging data analytics and reporting to improve supplier performance visibility.
- Continuously enhance supplier quality management systems and best practices across the organization.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Background in Welding Engineering is highly preferred.
Experience & Skills
- 8–10 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading supplier quality teams.
- Experience working with international or global supplier networks is highly desirable.
- Strong background in mechanical fabrication; experience in piping fabrication is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of ISO 9001 and related quality management systems, including ISO 3834, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 37301.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
- Proficient in quality improvement methodologies and problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to influence both internal teams and external suppliers.
