System Lead Drive train - Electrical

    Strategic Roles & Responsibilities

    • Develop design basis reports for wind turbine electrical systems in compliance with IEC and other relevant international standards.
    • Create interface documents related to wind turbine generator (WTG) electrical systems.
    • Develop auxiliary power systems for WTG auxiliary components.
    • Design WTG Balance of Plant systems, including 33 kV generator transformers, earthing, and lightning protection.
    • Design power cable systems, including cable selection and sizing according to IEC standards.
    • Identify and develop suppliers for components such as pitch systems, slip rings, generators, converters, power transformers, and MV switchgear.
    • Provide support for Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT), High Voltage Ride Through (HVRT), and frequency response testing in the field to meet grid standards.
    • Implement cost reduction measures and support localization efforts.
    • Design electrical internals for towers.
    • Define specification requirements, and conduct design verification, validation, and testing for generators, converters, and transformers.
    • Support the assembly, erection, and commissioning of WTG electrical systems.
    • Troubleshoot SCADA errors until turbines are stabilized.
    • Maintain strong relationships with critical wind industry suppliers, especially those providing vendor-designed parts like generators and converters.
    • Assist in vendor assessments.
    • Qualify alternative suppliers for all drive train components.
    • Establish design review processes.
    • Coach and empower team members.
    • Perform electrical simulations of generators versus converters using MATLAB.
    • Define component-level specifications for electrical drive train components such as power cables, generators, and converters.
    • Collaborate with certification agencies for design assessments.

    Technology and IT Enablement

    • Proficient in software tools such as EPLAN, PSS/E, MATLAB, and SAP.

    Requirements:

    Educational Qualification

    • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical

    Experience

    • At least 12-14 years of experience in leading wind project execution with a strong background in electrical design.
    • Demonstrates excellent design acumen.
    • Capable of preparing strategic roadmaps and scaling up projects effectively.
